It would seem that a new member going by the name of Nero has joined our forums for the sole purpose of spamming people's PM boxes with messages to join his forums.

I find it a bit odd that someone who joined today would be PMing me... especially since I can't remember the last time I posted something gaming related here.

Anyway, just a heads up. I'd be happy to forward the PM to a mod.

BTW, sorry for the topic, but I wasn't sure who was on ATM, so I figured this was the best way to bring it to the attention of whoever is here. ;)

Someone got me, and i'm the first on the list, LOL.

an undisclosed person sent me a spamish note about "lazyf***.net", "forum with under 500 members" or something stupid like that. I found it offensive and unnecesary, but thats just me. Also, the person who sent it had 0 posts... looks like pimping/spamming to me...

That happened before the one the thread starter here mentioned. Someone forwarded me the PM and I immediately banned them and filtered the site they were pimping.

Unfortunately, this is pretty common with forums. There will always be people who register just to spam/pimp their own agenda.

You can report a post by clicking the
report.gif
icon at the lower left of the post. Or post here or forward PM spam to the admins.
 
Thank you! I didnt think to report them, because i wasnt sure if it was bad or not, and i didnt want the mods and admins to think i was a whiny weenie. Next time, i'll be sure to report it! Assuming there is a next time, since you mods r t3h l33t and usually catch this stuff ;)

I didn't get anything. I think you can block PM's by adding the user name to your ignore list.

Yes, but you have to receive a PM spam first to know who to block.

Spamming simply will not be tolerated here. We'll ban PM spammers, but we have to know about it, so please report it if/when it happens.
