I have pc4400 and can pick up another 512 for very cheap, but it is 4800. I know the rig will only run at what the 4400 can overclock to, but will there be any other problems? Them memory is G.Skill...what I have now and what I want to puchase.
the PC rating is what the memory is specified to run at. Just like PC3200 ram can run at PC2700 (DDR333) speeds with a divider, that PC4800 stick *should* run at PC3200 speeds. Only problem, running these in DDR mode may not be possible, unless they're both really similar in specification (same company, same chip mode, ie single or double sided, and possibly same chips).
