Need a headphone recommendation

Okay, so I recently bought some Klipsch pro-media 2.1 speakers and am loving them. Now it's time to get good headphones. My main concern is music, with gaming being second. gaming is not nearly as important, because even with the headphones I use now (some shitass altec lansing I dug out of the garage which probably sold for 20 bucks when they were new), I can still tell which direction footsteps are coming from, so I think any upgrade would be amazing compared to what I have now. Mainly I want good headphones for music that I can have with my ipod at school, etc. I do not want a microphone headset. I'm looking to spend around 100-150 bucks, with 200 being the absolute max (unless there's a pair of cans for like 220 that are so good I would be able to use them for life). Please help me out as I am completely new to the audio scene.

PS - the music that I listen to is mostly metal/death metal/grindcore/etc. lots of double bass, blast beats, etc. but I also enjoy soft music, rap, pretty much anything. I need a well-rounded headphone is what I'm trying to say.

^ Denon AH-D1000. Or look for the D1001, which is the same model but comes with a free pouch. You should be able to find it just under $100 at amazon right now. It's exceptionally comfortable, sounds great without any glaring flaws and looks pretty good.

I'd go with M-Audio Q40 at your pricepoint. It's $100 off Amazon as well, and this one guy here prefers it over his D1000:

Denon D2000. Right now they're almost upon their second flavor of the month cycle (I'm not really sure if that's ever happened before?). Stock, they're about $220 shipped. Many people like them, citing them as a great, ultra comfortable all-around headphone. However, after you apply the Markl mod (which involves $10 of Dynamat and a bag of cotton fiberloft), suddenly the praise skyrockets.

Note that the D5000 is just the D2000 with wood cups and a better cable. After Markl mod, only the better cable makes a difference.

Plenty of people have done it themselves, and said it's not really that hard; it just takes a few hours.

Personally, listening to my D2000's, I'd say they're OK. They're great at everything, but vocals are pretty emotionally uninvolving for me, at times being sterile and hollow. However, lately I've been hearing a hint of those supremely organic vocals that I heard from my HFI-780's. Unfortunately, *everyone* else lately seems to say the exact opposite, and say that it's got a great midrange. I seem to be just an anomaly Oh, and I haven't done the Markl mod yet. Mostly because I'm lazy.
