My sitecom router stops working after some time everyday. It is 2 months old and just yesterday started to have this problem. So yeah I need an excellent router. Max I can pay is 150$.

Thanks for advices and suggestions in advance.

Any special requirements for the router? WiFi? A/B/G/N/AC? How many devices on your network?

^ what I'd suggest as well for a home router if you don't want to play with anything more advanced.

Get a TP-Link TL-WDR3600 at Microcenter or Newegg and install OpenWRT (with LuCI if you want a webif) on it. Done ;-)
I'd say its a better choice than the Asus given the Ralink radio issues with Asus routers.
If you want more standalone-ish router I'd say Ubnt EdgeRouter Lite coupled with a 16Gb USB memory running FreeBSD and the TP-Link as AP.

I'll second the TP-Link units with openWRT as well. Great solution for the price.

I like TP-Link for home stuff. I am running a TP-Link Wireless N access point and it has 4x vlan based SSD capabilities. I love having my Guest/etc.. VLANs all split up wirelessly using my Cisco router as DHCP server doling out address pools for each VLAN. I have a true guest network zone setup that truly segregates it from other vlans. Not bad for a $39.99 AP from Microcenter.

I am really hopeful that TP-Link makes a Wifi AC AP the same multi-ssid vlan based tech.

i just posted this yesterday....if you don't mind learning new stuff, one of these would be far better than pretty much any other off-the-shelf router out there

my company uses the non-gigabit version of this router for commercial wifi hotspots on military bases across the world....really excellent devices
