what is a good audio conversion software that you guys use. i need one that can convert wma to mp3. i would appreciate it if it can do more. it needs to be free. i know that i can find a lot on google, but i just want your opinions. it can not be trial software

For most audio files I'd recommend the open-source program Audacity but since there's nothing "open" about either the API or codec for WMA files, it doesn't support WMA conversions. That being said, I'd go with NCH Swift Audio File Converter. The regular version is freeware which should be more than enough for your needs.
DBPowerAMP will probably be your best choice strictly for file conversions. foobar2k can do it also as long as the proper codecs are installed (DBPowerAMP considers them as plugins).
I use a tool from NCH for transcription work myself, so they do make some decent - and free - software as already mentioned.
