Need a few pointers for an external DIY rig

'Lo everyone

I'm in the planning stages of making an external water cooling box - as I have a Lian Li 6070B case I can't fit any substantial amount of crap into it so an external rig is my solution. The box is about quietness and ease-of-maintenance first and overclockability/maximum cooling power. No bling-bling whatsoever (LEDS, cold cathodes, UV reactive water). I'm also morbidly afraid of cutting into my Lian Li.

My current rig is a 3.2GHz P4, Radeon 850XT and three WD drives, P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard, but I'll be upgrading my computer to a E6600 and 8800GTX in a few months.

My questions are the following:

1) The case is going to be made out of either plexiglass or polycarbonate. I'm leaning towards polycarbonate as though it's slightly more expensive, the box isn't going to be that large, so which one of the two materials would you suggest? I'll also be painting the box a matte black.

2) I'm going for a Black Ice Stealth GT 360 radiator and I'm thinking about whether I should put 3 fans in a pull or 6 in a push-pull configuration. I'll be using Noctua's NF-12 fans via the ULNA adapter as I really want to keep the noise down. Is there any significant advantage to using 6 fans over 3?

3) I'm going for the MCP-655 pump and the Apogee GT CPU block. I tried to find a nice block that wasn't aluminum/copper, but no luck. I'll eventually be cooling the chipset and 8800GTX once I upgrade my computer. (And no, I can't get the Apogee GTX block. It's not available here)

4) I'll also be buying a WD Raptor and an looking to WC it along with a few other drives as well, though primarily to enclose them to reduce noise. Any suggestions on good watercooling, noise-redusing HD blocks?

5) Tubing. Tygon? Masterkleer? Clearflex? Where can I buy quick disconnects online? The ones shown here are what I'm looking for, but does anyone sell them or their like online in small quantities?

As I live in Finland, I enviously look at your selection of (way cheaper) stuff and we don't really have anything here like a Home Depot, so I can't just walk into one and buy crap. Shops over in the UK have some nice stuff, but they cost an arm to buy and a leg to ship. Buying stuff from the US is largely a no-no, as customs takes all packages exceeding about 40€ and adds about 30% to the price in the form of a tax.

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

I am doing the same thing like you, has asked a couple of question here recently, you may see my thread here

A Swiftech MCR320 is a better radiator...

Polycarbonate is my choice... paint on the inside for a nice deep shine.

Masterkleer tubing all the way.

And... it's not Finland, it's WINland!!!

I'd skip watercooling the hard disk, decent airflow through your case should cool it just fine. If you want to quiet the drive, just make sure it's soft mounted, or better yet, suspend it from elastic.
