So my dilemma is as follows. I have a Thermaltake Armor filled to the brim with 7 hard drives (like 10.5 TB), 2 video cards (4 outputs), and a Q6600 running with a zalman 9500 cooler; all of which generates a good amount of heat as it is. I have 3, 3 space HDD cages each with a 120mm fan in front, a 120mm fan out the back, and open ventilation along the top.
I'm looking to quiet/cool my system for the upcoming summer months, but was looking for suggestions that could help. I was thinking of getting the Silverstone Fortress FT02 chasis that would move the cooling fans to the lower part of the chasis (bigger fans at that), and The design looks like its more conducive to quiet cooling.
Beyond that I guess I could reduce the number of video cards by getting one with more outputs. Could replace the cooler as well.(I have a HR-01, Tt Frio, and CM V10 lying around) Would underclocking the processor help with heat? (Running at high 30's to mid 40's most of the time on stock speeds). Could also look into getting one of those isolated water cooling setups I guess?
I have a surefire way to resolve this (move it out of the room!), but I'd like to try to solve this problem if I can before going this route.
