Those are my specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3400+|Asus K8V-SE Deluxe|1Gb Corsair DDR400 PC3200|x800 Pro 256Mb|Audigy 2 ZS Gamer|2x74Gb WD Raptor 10k RPM in Raid 0
Case : http://www.overclockercafe.com/Reviews/cases/RaidMax_Cobra
I am a student and am living in a small 1-bedroom apartment. I am in L.A., California and it can get EXTREMELY hot here so I am having problems keeping my GPU temperature at decent levels. When I am running games such as UT2K4 or Doom3, the GPU temperature (that I check in Overdrive in the ATI control panel) can go up to 70 degrees (!!). When that happens I get some artifacts in the games. The only thing I can do is turn my A/C unit and lower the ambient temperature as much as possible. But then I risk freezing to death >_>
Anyway, I am a complete n00b when it comes to modding cases, and adding cooling solutions so this is where I need some advice. I've done some research and found out I had two options:
-use water-cooling
-use a VGA silencer ( is this a good one? http://www.atruereview.com/zalman/index.php)
As for the case, I know it's not great but I really don't feel like changing it right now.
So what do you suggest I do, and what would be easier for me to install? And is there any cooling solution designed SPECIFICALLY for the X800 Pro? (it's a Sapphire btw)
Thanks for any help you can provide
