Im looking for a cheap SLR camera for my photography class. This is my first camera I have ever owned so not looking for anything fancy.

I've tried looking on eBay but have no clue what i am suppose to look for when shopping for a camera. I dont want to spend alot. Around ~100 for a used one.

We will be taking black and white pictures only. My first assignment is to take picture of people so need it asap.

If you're looking to buy a good condition used camea online, checkout KEH - http://www.keh.com/hmpg/index.cfm

Otherwise learn about cameras, how to check their condition, know how to rate their value, and head to a local pawn shop and find a good deal.

Do you happen to know if your photography class has an equipment pool? It may be worth buying a camera body that is compatible with the lenses they may have avaliable for you to use.

Otherwise you'll want to think about the future of your equipment - do you want it to prepare you for a move to Digital SLR cameras? Or do you just want to use it for this class and keep it around just incase you ever want to use it again?

Being prepared for a move to Digital has somewhat different requirements than getting a SLR camera most people learned on from the '80s...and it generally costs a bit more.

Edit: Also look at B&H - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ - for new equipment. KEH is a little bit pricey for equipment, and although B&H sells new stuff it may be worth it to go for a newer AutoFocus camera.

He didnt mention anything about a equitment pool.
Digital SLR is a big Maybe. I dont really have the money for that right now

I'll only be using it for school because after that I wont have access to a dark room. Maybe I will sell the camera and get a Digital SLR then, but as for now...

Can you recommend me some simple ones for a newb?

I really like how that one looks. Looks... old. I dont want to to look to fancy or new, someone might steal it.

And I'll take a look at those sites when I get the time, Thanks alot!

Pentax Spotmatic or K1000. I'd prefer the Spotmatic b/c of the variety of m42 lenses available for REALLY cheap. (Can you say awesome Zeiss glass?)

Zenit-E are pretty awesome too.

As for other mounts (still nice glass, but m42 is really amazing considering the pentax glass is awesome too), there's the Olympus OM1/2, Canon AE-1.
