I need some advice. At work I'm using an old 17inch CRT that gives me a headache and barely fits on my desk. I've got approval to get a nice LCD, but I'm a little lost. I know that the Hyundai L90D+ and ViewSonic's VP191B are popular among gamers, but I don't know if there might be a cheaper alternative that would be better suited to an office environment. I'm a sysadmin who also handles the companies design needs - photoshop, indesign, etc.

Right now the Hyundai L90D+ is appealing because of the price, but I was also wondering about the Acer AL1912b. Would the L90D+ be worth the extra $$ for a non-gaming setup? I just want to make sure I get something good, since I will be looking at it 8 hours a day.

I would not get the L90D+ for a work computer. Its viewing angles are not the best for the price. Look at the Fuji Plus FP-988D, I just bought one, but I won't be able to check it out until the weekend.

Hyundai L90D+ is using 6 bit Samsung TN panel, ViewSonic VP191B use 8 bit AUO MVA panel. if the work involve serious image editing, you'll need the 8 bit color. there isnt many 17" LCD use 8 bit panel currently...if its just some light photoshopping and color accuracy isnt too important, get the L90D+.

either way, you'll get something thats proven good. :cool:
 
Thanks for the heads up on the FP-988D, looks appealing, espicially for only $250 after rebate at newegg.

I hadn't thought about the 6 vs. 8 bit panel aspect. I don't do anything really color sensitive (don't calibrate monitors even), so I think either would work. Its mostly setting up images for the website or altering the occasional ad.
