I'm not sure if many of these televisions are even manufactured now, but since my 360 games are mostly in 720p I'd like to get a 720p lcd tv. I'm not sure if it matters in terms of PQ if you run your games at 720p when your tv has a native resolution of 1080p, but does it?

If anyone knows a particular model and where to find it, let me know. If there's no harm in going 1080p (if the picture from 720p doesn't look too bad), also let me know. Thanks for any help.

What about a shiny new 720p plasma, ever considered them?
There are lots that come in that resolution and they are well priced too. I haven't seen a 720p LCD TV for quite a while now either, I'd suppose any left that are being sold are based around old panels and will suffer greatly from the negative traits of that technology like ghosting and poor contrast.

A 1080p display will be just fine. I don't see any problems when I am watching 720p videos on a 1080p screen.
If you really want a 720p display there are still a bunch of HDTVs at 32" and under that are still 720p. Theres even some up to 42" that are still 720p but i would not get anything bigger than 32" at 720p as it will start to get pixalized unless your pretty far away from the screen.

Here's the distance chart for resolutions and proximity necessary to reap the benefits of the same:

Personally, I have a 50" panasonic plasma that I sit about 10' from and I've never noticed any issue, and my vision is better than 20/20. A very similar model is available on Amazon for ~$700.

I can only find plasmas locally at Best Buy and the smallest one is 42". Anywhere else I should look?

I don't think anyone makes a plasma smaller than 42". If you want something smaller than that, you're going to have to go the LCD route.

Walmart has a surprising selection of HDTVs plus there return policy is great as well. You can also look at what they have online as theres even more to choose from.
