I have a Pentium M mobo which has a proprietary heatsink with a 40mm fan on top. The heatsink does a fine job, even with the chip o/c 50% its just that the fan is too loud! I have seen a 40mm -> 60mm and a 60mm -> 92mm adapter but does anyone know of an adapter that will go straight from the 40mm to either an 80mm or a 92mm fan?

When I had this problem I just screwed (the space between HSF fins are great for screwing into!) an 80mm fan on top of the 50mm hsf. Not ONLY did this cool my CPU, it ALSO cooled my NB as well!

Fan adapters don't work. It's fine to suck air through them, but pushing air through them just doesn't work. Too much back pressure.

On this heatsink there really isnt any place to screw a bigger fan into unfortunately. The only solution I can figure is to use the adapters, even if they are less than ideal.
