From my research, the only decent LCD for games right now is the Acer 2423w.
After trying a lot of things out, the truth seems to be that LCDs - esp. 24" - aren't quite there yet for hardcore gaming.
I'd really recommend gambling on a decent refurbed or overstock 22" Diamondtron or 21" Trinitron CRT. You can get them for a steal, save your cash wad. Then, blow said wad in 6-12 months. A lot of the aperture grille CRTs are getting a bit long in the tooth - yeah. However, if they give you 12 months even for the $200 you spent on them, it will be worth it I think in terms of where we are at for 24" CRTs.
The new BenQ 24" looks promising and might be nice to pick up say 6 months after its November release (Price will probably be nice by then). Also, NEC is coming out with 24" and 26" CRTs that could be sweet.
I wanted a 24" gaming CRT and tried to get the ACer but could not in Korea without too much hassle. I found a used 22" Diamondtron screen and am really happy. Mine is actually the HP-1230 (I really lucked out as this is basically the last aperture grille made - 2005 manufactured - and it will last me a long time). But if it dies or if I had found a longer one I'll be looking for 24" to 26" LCDs next year Q2/Q3.
The Samsung has too many reports of huge gaming lag for me to risk it and I didn't like it when I tried it out at the shop for this very reason. All of them just seem too slow right now for me.But they are getting clser and closer - 6 to 9 months from now and there might be some sweet gaming big screen LCDs for nice prices.
im personally going to wait till the 20/10/06 to get my benq fp241w because its got some sweet features such as its the first HD panel, its also got a hdmi port. only 2 1/2 weeks.
