I am trying to find a nice spacious case for all of my new parts. I am going to have a X6800 with dual 8800 GTX's. I really would love to get the Antec 900, but I really think space will be an issue. In addition, I am getting the PC P&C Silencer 750 quad power supply, so I probably will have a lot of cables that I will need to route, and again space will be limited in the 900.

So I have been looking at numerous full size cases, but none really appeal to me. I don't really want a front door or any obstructions to the CD drives (alot of the Thermaltake have the curved front, why??). I also am not really looking for anything overly flashy. The Lian-Li's that Newegg offered all seemed fairly plain, but were more pricey. Some cases had giant windtunnels directly in front of the CPU area, which obviously won't work (Silverstone TJ-06). And the Antec's all seemed to have doors on the front, so I am lost.

$200 would be my maximum price I would like to pay, although a cheaper case would certainly be welcomed, so long as the case is sturdy. I currently have a Lian-Li PC-7B which I am very satisfied with, I just need something bigger.

Are there other major e-tailers for cases that I should be checking?? I am open to any suggestions!

Okay first off - you have ENTIRELY TOO MUCH MONEY!!!

Your talking to people on a modding oc'ing forum but yet your wasting as much money as possible on a chip that many many people can destroy with their current overclocks - video sure - but dont waste your money on an x6800 - get a 6600 or even a 6300. Video cards - hoorah!

Get this case - http://coolermaster.com/products/product.php?act=detail&tbcate=17&id=4 - its VERY VERY plain - no obstruction of the cd rom bays - it will hold 2 psu's and 8 hd's easily as well as 2 5.25 drives. Its around 100 bucks on ebay and very easy to find other places. Very good cooling because of how open the case is.

Having that said - I take my leave of you oh rich one.

PEACE!

Fair enough, but I like the fact that I don't have to worry about burning out the CPU because of excessive overclocking. And truth be told, I have next to no experience overclocking, so this is the safer, more expensive alternative. Also, I don't have to worry about things not working right because my CPU is overclocked. Less headaches is good ;)

Granted, this isn't the best forum for this belief, but I enjoy hardware as much as the next person, and that is why I do read [H]ardOCP everyday. I just choose to take the more conservative way and pay the premium. I would argue though that it is better to do this than to buy a pre-built overclocked system from Falcon Northwest or similar companies, because I am at least attempting to put together a system for myself. Maybe someday down the road I can push this beast to its upper limits and then have an extreme overclock. But for now this will suit me.

Thank you for the case recommendation, I will look into it some more.

I have to agree with Endrithius about the CPU, but I do understand your point.

As for the case I just got my Cool Master CM Stacker and it's an excellent case. Quite, good cooling, loads of space and pretty easy to manage cable routing even with dual power supplies.

If I didn't want dual power supplies or I could find it in Bosnia I might have gotten the Lian Li PC-V2100BplusII

Just my 2 cents

I totally understand your point about the overclocking - and not wanting to deal with the hassle - I guess we are just glutton for punishment LOL. I still say get the e6600 but lol thats just my take. Anyway, good luck with your build friend!!

xPat_Racing - you got the same Coolermaster as what Endrithius recommended? Or was it a different model, because I have seen the 810, 830, etc

Thank you for the good wishes. I am sure it will all work out fine.

Hmmm Worried about overclocking. and stressing the CPU. Dude you pick up a $300 CPU and overclock it to meet the x6800 and it will last you longer then what you intend to keep it for.

As long as your CPU is below or midranged ina safe temp your core will last you longer then 5 years.

But I agree with wasting your money, get the E6600 and overclock it. Get a good HSF and good memory and mobo. and you can hit 3.5 with ease. And hey with all that extra money from a cheaper CPU you can invest in other things.
And no need for dual 8800GTx's my god. Nothing demands that kinda performance man. You obviously need to read up more

Nothing "yet" needs that type of performance. But down the road I see this being a huge benefit for me. I am intending on keeping this PC for several years, so I want something high-end.

And overclocking it to run at 3.5 is fine, BUT if it dies, is it warrantied still? Probably not. My chip is guaranteed to run at its clocked speed for its life. But that is the gamble you take with overclocking to get that little extra performance, but quite frankly that is something I would rather not risk.

I have the case Endrithius recommended. I don't think the 810 and 830 support dual power supplies. But possibly better cooling
