I've considered buying it in the past -- when NEC does their regularly refurb clearances, the monitor is listed at $200 w/o spectraview. I kicked myself last year for not jumping on it and buying a couple, but in retrospect, was probably the right decision.
You really only want this if you get the spectraview package -- it's only advantage over similarly priced models is the availability of hardware calibration. You'll need the calibrator if you're going to be doing anything in sRGB anyway.
If you're not going to get spectraview, you're better off getting one of the 23" IPS monitors for ~$300, or even the NEC 2490 for ~600. The 2490 doesn't need hardware calibration to be used for standard computer usage, but it's available as an option. A third party calibration solution works well with most of these alternatives.
