NEC ND-2500A DVD Burner

does anyone have anything good or bad to say about this DVD burner

its DVD+R 8x
and DVD-R 8x

is there another one that is better

is there a reason newer burners seem to have DVD+R 8x, DVD-R 4x

yup. I own that NEC drive. no complaints here. I haven't hacked it yet and I only have 4x media so I haven't tested the 8x features yet, but it's flawless so far.

I also have a Pioneer 106D. 4X write. This has been a great drive too, very quiet. (Pioneer recently replaced this with the 107D which does the 8x write.)

Not a coaster amongst the two of them out of 20 discs so far.

I own it, good drive, no probs yet. Only tried out 4x burns since 8x media is too expensive for the little time improvement. I'd recommend it.
