Hello! This is my first post here but I've been browsing for a couple of months. My question is, I have a fx5200 (my comp is free Dell optiplex meh) and it only has a DVI plug. So I put on a dvi adaptor that splits into 2 VGA adators. The first vga goes to my ViewSonic VG710b LCD and the second goes into my NEC. The resolution for the LCD is 1280x1024, and so is the NEC. But I know the NEC crt can go higher, but when I select a higher resolution, it doesn't look right. I don't use both monitors at the same, I switch off and on depending on what I am doing. Lcd = 17", NEC crt = 19". How come the higher resolution doesn't work?

Sounds like a software issue....if you go into display properties there are 2 monitors listed right? If so make sure the drivers for the NEC are installed properly.
 
I didn't get drivers for this crt because my ncle gave it to me lol. Let me try to find the drivers.

I dl'ed this .rar file from nec's websitecalled "necmsinf" after selecting my monitor model. What do I do with all those files in there?

/edit #2 well I figured out how to install the drivers, but the resolution is still funky. I suppose it's my video card.
