Hey guys,
I just got the NEC 2470WNX and I'm completely happy with it. I need to purchase a second 24 and was wondering what the big difference is between that and the 2490WUXi?
On paper the WNX seems to have better stats. I've read the threads on bother monitors but can't figure out why exactly the WUXi is better.

Any info would be great.

In short the LCD2470WNX is a PVA panel and the LCD2490WUXi is an IPS panel. IPS tends to have better details in the darker colors and better viewing angles while PVA tends to have darker blacks (and hence, generally a higher contrast ratio).

There are some other small differences (the stands, hardware gamma table support, lack of a USB hub, and 1 extra year of warranty) which may or may not be important to you. If I had a LCD2470WNX I doubt I'd have much to complain about, but I'm very pleased with my LCD2490WUXi.
 
thank you so much for the input. I will stick to my guns and get the LCD2490WUXi for my main panel along with the nec calibration software. Image quality is the most important thing for more since I'm a digital artist. I just moved from using CRT's and I don't think I'm going back to them. The WNX has so far met all my expectations and I'm a happy camper.
 
I wish you luck. I had a hard time getting information on a straight 2490/2690 side-by-side comparison (meaning actual pictures against the same content), much less a 2470/2490. In any case, it seems pretty well established that the H-IPS panels are better for color critical applications. But obviously what makes the 2490 truly special and a bit more expensive is what you get in addition to the panel. The only other 24" that I've heard of with the same panel is the Hazro, which I don't think is sold in the US. I could be very wrong on that point.

I've had my 2490 for about a week, and despite a dead subpixel (kind of a letdown at first), I'm extremely happy. Unless I have my face within 2 feet of the screen, I can't see the flaw, and only then if against a pure black or white background. The pixels are too small to notice during regular use.

From my understanding NEC will replace a screen with 1 full dead pixel or more than 5 dead subpixels.
 
yea, I've been waiting to make the jump to LCD's for awhile and NEC looked like the best way to go. I have a decent budget but nothing that would permit me to spend 2grand per LCD. The image quality and performance of my 2470WNX has been great and I can't wait to get the LCD2490WUXi.
