Alright I purchased this monitor 2-3 months ago and to be honest have probably only used it for a total of 24-48 hours. Anyways, every time I use it I find myself messing with the settings non stop to try and get the picture correct. It is either to dark and looks like a fog, or way to bright and there is no color contrast. The biggest complaint I have is when I have a setting like my current one, digg.com a site with a lot of white looks great, almost perfect. Yet when I minimize it or resize the window and my black desktop background is in sight the entire screens gets darker. The dark fog takes over the screen whenever there is a dark background and it is very annoying considering the price of this monitor.

Does anyone have some suggested settings for the brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc? I am about to pull my hair out due to the frustration this thing is causing me. It almost seems like it takes more power to display the black so the monitor dims, although from what I read unlike a CRT the amount of power use is not dependent on the color output.

Or is it possible I just got a piece of crap unit??

Please, help me out! :(

Right now I am using:
18.7 Brightness
75% Contrast
16.6 Contrast (default)

On User 1 Color profile I have:
Red 93%
Green 88.6%
Blue 88.8%

The above is a combo of another persons calibration measurements and my own Abcdelight Institute SOP (Seat Of Pants) adjustments. I will tweak things depending on if I am looking at photos or video or web, exterior or interior etc.
