does ncq require specific hard drives? i saw on newegg a maxtor and it says supports ncq, but i thought that was part of a chipset? or does it require both? and if it requires both any clue on when they will release a revision of the raptors with it?
 
It requires a controller that supporrts NCQ'ing Some of the ultra-new mobo's are integrating sata-2 controllers which support NCQ, but if you already have a motherboard, it probably doesnt have controllers capable of using that feature of your drive. I have NCQ'ing drives on my non-NCQ controllers and they work fine. Its one of those backward compatible things.
