Hello everyone,
with a toddler in the household a purge for electronic devices has begun. Our current tower and two laptops will be phased out once the Ncase M1 v5 pre-order ships in May.
Since I have not assembled a PC for over a decade, I would appreciate, if you could share your expertise with me and advise me on parts selection based on my requirements.

1. What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming, Photoshop (or other intensive programs), Web browsing, strictly HTPC/Playback, etc.
Photo cataloguing, editing and illustrations (Adobe CS5 and Lightroom)
Document cration and editing (MS Office and Adobe Acrobat)
Media playback (xFinity, Netflix, Hulu, iTunes store content and BR discs)
Occasional Games (Eve Online, Star Citizen, Dolphin Emulator, GTA V)
OS: Windows 10 and MacOS

5. What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need (especially if you will need 3.5" hard drives or expansion cards as these may restrict case options).

GPU: nVidia GTX 970 with fanless mode (MSI, EVGA or Palit)
Mainboard: USB 3, WiFi and Bluetooth required
RAM: power efficiency and low thermals preferred
CPU cooler: inaudible and as theemal efficient as possible
Storage: 2xSata 6GB/s SSD (one for windows, one for mac os)
Optical drive: BluRay playback and dvd/cd write
PSU: as silent as possible
Fans:
Monitor: 2nd screen, if budget allows
Alternate case until M1 arrives: Cougar QBX
6. If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply.
Not reusing any internal parts
7. What specific features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Thunderbolt? Crossfire or SLI support? How many USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
Required: USB 3.0, WiFi, Bluetooth, Optical audio out,Sata 6GB/s
Wanted: m.2, USB 3 Type C Thunderbolt
8. What resolution output do you need?
1080p/1440p Games
1080p playback
9. Does this system need to fit into a particular space and do you need an optical drive?
Needs an internal blu ray drive and has to be on the office table
10. How comfortable are you with custom case design/modification and electrical wiring?
Not at all but eager to learn. I only have screwdrivers including laptop sized ones at home
11. How important is the noise/silence of this sytem?
Very important. The PC will be next to the monitor in a bedroom.
Has to be inaudible (SilentPC had a dated guide from 2014 and water cooled gfx)
12. How mobile does this system need to be?
No handle required
Carry-on required
No water cooling
13. Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

14. When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Once the case arrives, so approximately end of May 2016. If possible i would trial all parts in a Cougar QBX case until then.
