Hey,

I'm thinking of downsizing my system to minitix factor.

I'm going to purchase the Asus H97I-PLUS to work with
my already existing Core i7 4770k and my Nocturna Cooler.

I also own an 280x gigabyte windforce and was wondering what
is the wattage needed for the SFX PSU? I currenlty use 750W
psu which is (i think) way overkill.

Any advice on the needed psu?

It's not so much a question of wattage than it is compromises.
Alternatives so far are the SFX series PSUs from Silverstone. SX450-G, SX500-LG or SX600-G. All of them will be fine Wattage wise, but also have issues.

The fans on the SX450-G and the SX600-G have been critisized for being a bit too noisy. The noisiest one is the 450, due to the 600 having a (not optimal) semi passive function and a less noisy stock fan. However it is possible to replace the fan on the 450 but not the 600.

The SX500-LG is an SFX-L form factor. There is so little room for the connectors that it is hard to make it fit. You won't be able to at all with a backplate on your GPU. It will most likely be a lot quieter though due to 120mm fan.

Personally I am running the SX600-G. I can hear it when the fan is spinning. My previous full ATX rig had a really quiet PSU and the main noise culprit there was the stock intel cooler. Now (except for high load scenarios with GPU ramping up) it's the PSU. The intel coller was worse than the sx600-G is.

I think you will struggle with finding a ATX psu which fit with a long GPU if one even exist.

My advise is to research in the threads for those three PSUs in this subforum and also in the main Ncase M1 thread. Use the search field to help. Good hunting:)

Edit: If you decide on the SX500-LG you can alwas do this.

If you've got a 4770k, you should really consider getting the Z97i-PLUS, instead of the H97i-PLUS; that way you can overclock later on down the line with a decent cooler. The H97i-PLUS is a great board, and what I use with my Xeon, but I'm not going to be overclocking.

Try plugging everything into pcpartspicker and posting it here. Much easier for everyone to critique and offer advice. :)

Due to availability issues i can only get the SST-ST45SF-G PSU.
It's a fully modular 450w 80+ gold certified PSU from silverstone.

Will it suffice for my 280x?

Also what CPU cooler should i use from Noctua?

Yes, it will be fine. There are 450Gs running 290x's in here.
