I’m building a new rig and this past weekend I decided to purchase ASUS striker Extreme MB and cool master stacker 830 evolution case. I'm looking to buy two 8800 gtx or ultra but I noticed there are many versions of the same card and couldn't decide on what card is the best for the price. I plan on OC the CPU and the GPU (if possible) The rig is going to be used for gaming, 3D modeling software, and sometimes for entertainment center. So my first question is

1) What the differences between ultra and GTX?
2) Can the Fans on the GPU be removed for a water cooling set up?
3) What video cards do you guys/ladies recommend?
4) What brand has a better user satisfaction or hold up better?
5) If the GPU can be OC does that eliminated the need of buying a ultra”

I’m looking to spend about 500 to 650 on one card. But I’m willing to above the price range if necessary

Thank

8800 Ultras have higher shader clocks which you can only get if you flash a GTX to a modded bios or get a factory overclocked card.
