Sorry to be a whiner, but one of your mods is really out of hand. KaosDG locks a long running thread because people are talking to much (...on a forum, how dare we) and not posting pics.

Another thread was created for pics and conversation, which he deleted. So we now have no choice but to post pictures silently in the thread he recently created, which is already littered with deletions by our favorite mod. I'm honestly baffled by his actions. Why is it so important that we not talk in a thread whose main purpose is pictures?

If you say this is the way it is, then so be it. But I can't see any logical reasoning for it. Other than some bored mod flexing his e-muscles on the internets.
 
I agree totally with Vito, something needs to be done about Kaos. Hes not a particularly good mod plus he mods a sub-forum which is hardly ever posts in.

Its a shame that Kaos has killed such a good thread which I can guarantee you accounts for more than 50% of the overall traffic in that subforum. Not allowing talking is ridiculous as this is a FORUM, and until he starts contributing to the new thread that he opened he shouldn't have the right to say who can talk and who cant.

I have to agree with Vito that this action was unjust. The Network pics thread was not turning into as mentioned by KaosDG. In my opinion this thread was a nice mix of pictures and comments of those pictures posted.

It is frustrating to be a member of this forum (and only joined this forum because of that very thread that was closed) and having to deal with mods who feel that they need to close threads for reasons that they feel are just when in reality they have no business locking them.

As Vito said if this is the way it has to be it's the way it has to be, but I hope you can take a look at the action that KaosDG has performed and understand members of HardForum frustrations.
 
I'm the guy that started the "Network Pics AND Discussion Thread" that was promptly deleted.

Those of us who both frequent and contribute content to the Networking sub-forum have found the "Network Pics Thread v2" as our primary hangout. We can throw up a quick picture to share something that we're working on without having to start a new thread just for a single picture. Some folks may not recognize some of the gear they see in the pictures or maybe they want to provide a little feedback, discussion ensues and that is EXACTLY what forums are for.

KaosDG seems to believe that the Network pics thread should solely be a repository for images without context nor discourse. Frankly, if we wanted that, we wouldn't be here.

In turn, I created my own thread in which members would be allowed to both post pictures AND discuss the content with one another. This thread was summarily deleted.

If Kaos wishes to have a pictures-only thread, then that's fine. We don't have any issues with that, let him have his pictures-only thread. But let us have a second thread where members are free to have discussions about the content without being under the threat of deletions/infractions/banning. Otherwise, we'll find somewhere else to go.

This is a pretty typical case of a forum mod which obviously doesn't participate in the section of which he is responsible for, yet wants to be control the content from the top down. Sorry chief, the users are the content creators on forums. If you ban discussion, you ban content. Once the content is gone, the section dies and you won't be getting it back.

tl;dr: Kaos, if you want your own thread without discussion, that's fine...keep it. Just keep your hands off our threads.

Not much more for me to say, except that I agree with everything stated above. Without the networking subforum, I have no reason to be here - so if that's the way it has to be, then I'm out.
 
I'll chime in and agree with what was already stated. Deleting the pictures AND discussion thread seems pretty douchy to me. Absolutely no reason to delete that thread when it is obviously what the networking forum members want. Pictures AND discussion have what geeks CRAVE.
 
Just FYI, starting a thread with the title "Nazi Mod" is not likely to give you very good results, no matter how valid your arguments are.
 
Did you people even bother to re-read the original post in the thread?

Doubtful - it's apparently TLDR syndrome for most of you.

You all didn't have an issue with the original thread and its rules - which was "no jibba jabba" You can still even see it in the thread, as posted by BobSutan.


Let's put it this way: If you all wanted discussions, how about PM'ing me and asking to let the discussions go?
I'm going based on what the original thread's intention was.

Not a single one of you posting here asked, but someone form here DID IM me and ask to change the thread to allow discussions, since it's more appropriate than in a WorkLog thread.

I'm nice enough when asked nicely. If you decide to go trolling threads with stupid replies, then I enforce the rules as written for the forums.
