Simple one for you guys today, I have a Synology Diskstation NAS connected and HTTP access goes up and down randomly. Currently its down but I am able to ping it just fine so I know its good to go up to layers 3. I'm the only network admin here and I haven't made any recent changes on the network. Is this an indication of the NAS PCB going bad?

IP conflict? Try pinging it with arping and check to see if more than one MAC comes back.

Had one of my minions go and reset it...still not able to access the device through HTTP. Using windows file explorer I can hit it but it shows that its empty (probably not configured for shares) and I can ping the device...but that's it.

What does Synology Assistant say? I doubt hardware is going bad. Maybe you should re-install DSM.

Are you using the cloudstation plugin? We have one that is and when the clients were doing the initial sync it appeared to be dead but once they finished it came back up fine. Same thing as you, http was extremely slow and showed no shares and windows SMB did not work. RS812RP+ is the model we have.
