Hello all, I'm not quite sure where to put this so here it goes. I just finished the install of a new wireless setup at work, new router, switch and 6 wap's (UniFi's). We also just purchased a WD My Cloud EX4 NAS (raid 10), and a 100GB DropBox sub. We are coming from all files being stored on various laptops and occasional backups to a single external to the above setup. I'm under the impression that the WD EX4 NAS does not natively work with DropBox and am trying to find a way to get everything to play together easily. This is my plan.

My thought is to buy a cheap little Asus eeeBox to put in the office. This device would run the UniFi software for the WAP's, it would also have dropbox on it and automatically backup to the WD EX4 NAS and another external HDD. Currently we only have about 20GB's of data to backup. My thought is that the above plan would put our data at 4 different places. The eeeBox, the NAS, DropBox and the External HDD.

This is my proposed "solution" to backing up to both the NAS and DropBox remotely. I am aware that WD does offer its own cloud software but at this point "everyone" I work with is able to use and for the most part understand DropBox.

That seems needless.

Having dropbox on every PC is a backup of and by itself.
You'd have a copy on each and every PC

Setting up a robocopy to the NAS would keep a non-live backup of the dropbox data.

And then backing that up to removable media and putting it in a safe deposit box would be a good plan.

Thanks for the response man, I may have described part of my issue incorrectly. I don't want or need everything to be accessible by everyone, only certain things or folders. So the only place I'd have a full backup would be on the DropBox cloud unless I also manually put it on the NAS. I was seeing the desktop as a means of connecting DropBox to the NAS so I'd have all of the the information in 2 places. Having it on the desktop and the other external are just bonuses.
 
Well after some tweaking it appears to be working. I mapped a shared folder on the NAS and am using Allway Sync to continually sync the NAS with Dropbox.
