Hi all, quick question - my parents HP a6500f died, and I diagnosed it as the motherboard. I want to replace it, but it says it is a MCP73M01H1 (Napa) mATX.

Is this a specialty form factor, or can I drop any mATX into it? The direct HP replacement is over $100, so that's not an option.

Thanks!

Ebay is your best bet. Search for the part number or Napa and HP.
Of course it's an old 775 socket motherboard so maybe it's time to move on to something more up to date. Your call.

So long as the I/O cover isn't case integrated, yes it's universal MATX. Your best bet is a "new guts" system using your working parts - Build up something new, and nice in that old case, with a fresh OS.

napa is probably just a code name, like every other company is using these days...

this is the board

looks like a normal microATX, a shorter variety, with only 6 screw mounts, when buying a new board, be careful some MicroATX boards are wider and require 8 screws.. longer board might not fit, if case was designed for less wide MicroATX.
