I name mine from the Index of Famous Cats, but I guess that's me...

I have Felix (main system), Fritz (wee system I use for non-time-critical tasks such as div encoding) , Milo (laptop), Isis (work in progress), and Morris (teh intarweb router and linux presence).

why not just use greek or roman mythology for naming them.. seems nice I guess.

The reason I used "Fenris" is because my old computer, "Tyr" was stripped to make it.

it seemed quite appropriate.


If I wanted to use a similar idea, what once was Valhalla (a system of similar build and parts taken from) should be Helheim; however...Helheim is the land where those that don't die bravely go.

Ragnarok was to be the name of the chenbro Ultra server...howver...it never got built. I think I need a more powerful computer to earn the moniker "Ragnarok"
 
well there are the traditional
9 worlds

Asgard (Aesir\the Gods)
Alfheim (Light Elves)
Helheim (as you mentioned, the Christian Hell\Hades)
Jutunheim (Frost Giants, which I personally imagine where inspired by Polar Bears)
Midgard (Land of Humans)
Muspelheim (Fire Giants)
Nidavellir (Dwarves)
Niflheim (House of Mists)
Svartalfheim (Dark Elves)
Vanaheim (Vanir)

(Helheim & Niflheim are generally constidered contiguous explaining why my list is 10 names long :p
Nidavellir & Svartalfheim are also possibly interchangeable)

Yeh Ragnarok should be reserved for a super computer cluster capable of thermo nuclear modeling
