Need a name for my computer...

I've tended to go with a Norse mythology scheme, but I can always change it.

I'd thought about going with video game nemesis (Bowser, for example)...


and since I hope to always have 3 systems (a server, a workstation, a laptop), I'd jokingly thought about renaming them "Vini (the laptop), Vide (the server), & Vici (the gaming system)...


but, oh well!

I have a few days, so gimme ideas! winner gets a cookie.
 
The Vini Vide Vici names actually work perfectly, and are even appropriately themed for each computer. Go with those.
 
heh my computers have gone through many "themes"

Right now im doing the Norse Mythology theme with

Odin, Thor and Loki

Before that they were all named after transformers

Optimus, Megatron and Starscream

Mine are like "amdrig" and "ben" lol, I dont know, think of a name you use when playing games, use your server name for BF42 or something, that usually works :)

I'd go with those. Although I think the spelling is "Veni Vidi Vici."

Mine is named Slapdick.
 
My current comps are called Tivo and Celestial. Tivo is a 1ghz box for storing video, and Celestial is an Athlon XP 2500 based gaming box. My next system, prolly in the fall, will be Ethereal, an A64 at whatever the bargain rating is at the time.

Mine have always called a name according to function. The router is called router. The fileserver is called fileserver. The gameserver is called gameserver. The bench box is called benchbox,. The lab box is called labbox. The laptop is called laptop.

Creative, no?

This might not be true if its supposed to be in some other language (like Italian), but Nostratic's right: in latin it is actually "veni, vidi, vici."

Anyways, i like that idea.
 
lol not sure if this is strictly on-topic, but i worked for a school once where they renamed all the servers after Simpsons characters. The spooky bit is that the server named Bart had (up to that point) never even needed so much as a reboot, but suddenly started experiencing random glitches, eventually resulting in the (separate) replacement of 2 processors, 4 SCSI drives and the mainboard.

So let that be a lesson to anyone thinking about renaming a critical machine :p
 
haha, woah, that's cool, the servers at my school have really gay names... viking ones like Midgard and stuff like that.... on top of that they never work properly :(
 
I don't know should be something relgious cause every time I mess with it and it crashes I pray:eek:

Hmm, I dunno about that one. I'd have to call my computer "meat_tray" then


that user name has a silly story behind it, but also mainly i don't generally want to game under emorphien for various reasons.

As it stands, the 2.8ghz system is Gopher (network name is zippy) and the drives are c: Zorbatron (dunno what that is) and d: crumbly

My laptop is... uhh... *checks* emorphien. what a coincidence. its hard drive is "biggy" cuz dell upgraded me from 48gigs to 60 for free. :-p

why not add the other two wolves? Skoll and Hati?
