well, I finally upgraded the vid card. Had an ATI Radeon 9700Pro and upgraded to a BFG 6800GT OC. After reading various forums and newspieces on overclocking (beyond the stock OC) I decided to do it. I have a few questions.

When I do the autodetect frequencies, i'm getting around 400mhz and 1.05 as an average. Today is the first day ive had this card, so I left it at default settings for now.

Does a video card need to be burned in ?

Most of the people I have seen are consistently getting around 425 and 1100 for their autodetect, and safely run it around there, but mine won't detect that high. Should i try it again in a few days to see if it will improve?

Sorry for the goob questions, Im kinda new at this, but am real excited with the new card. I certainly like the nvidia control panel way more than ATI at this point.
 
a lot of those guys with the better overclocks have :

1) Better luck of the draw with the chips. Not all 6800gt's OC the same
2) Better cooling. The NV5 Silencer is great, stock cooler kinda stinks

If you improve the cooling of the card, you might get better OC's but if you dont, its the chips. The simple fact that you get _ANYTHING_ over stock means you got more than what you paid for :D
