Im very much n00b when it comes to photography,
My Folks had a semi-manual SLR that they got at a bargain and i used to play around with it and get some great shots, but never really knew what i was doing.

anyway im thinking of buying a digital SLR with a couple of lenses and having play to see what i can do. Ive pretty much settled on getting a Nikon D40X, I Like how it feels and it takes SD which is a bonus for me.

Anyway Ive seen it for sale with a few packages of lenses.
AF-S DX 18-55mm alone
AF-S DX 18-55mm + 55-200mm
AF-S DX 18-135mm + VR 55-200mm

So i have no idea of the difference, so i thought Id ask you guys. Im mainly going to be taking photos of cars, day and night, try some motion shots, etc. Maybe some landscape stuff on occasion when im out in the country with my brother, (might try to catch some lightning storms, that'd be cool)

any advice?

Indeed, if the budget allows, the D40 and an 18-200VR would be the ultimate "starter package" and if your photography never became more than a casual hobby this combination would be enough for a long time.

Thats a good choice. I would have gone with the 18-135 though myself. It is a good lense.
