N00B Excel Question

if I have data that looks like this

Colours
Red
Orange
Red
Red
Blue
Yellow
Orange
Yellow
Red

Is there a way to easily make a chart for the frequency of each colour? Retarded question I know, but I'm having difficulties here

Not the easiest way, but you could use sumif to get totals for each color and then create a chart from that. (For whatever reason, Excel doesn't like to easily make a chart showing counts...)

Which version Excel?

Recent ones have a histogram tool in the data analysis add-on pack. (It's not something you have to buy; but it isn't installed by default.) Online help has explanations about it.

Thanks guys, but I was able to get it done by using countif and then making a chart with the results. Similar to the sumif suggestion.
