News.com.com is trying to track down a person that has been posting copyrighted video sandwiched between ads for websites not related to the video or copyright holders.

"I can tell you emphatically that this video was used without our authorization," said Audrey Pass, spokesperson for WNYW Channel 5, the Fox affiliate in New York. A clip from a Fox 5 news report was among those posted by Belowtheradar in December. "We have plans to pursue this matter further."

Whoohoo, more media corporate muscle trying to squash people

Man is it ever gonna end?

Is this any different than collegehumor, ebaum, ogrish, or whoever else slapping thier address at the bottom of "submitted" videos?

I haven't seen the videos myself so, I'm making assumptions based on the article.

But if I'm understanding this correctly it's basically the same; Website takes someone elses video that happens to be funny/sick/scary, slaps their web address on it, posts it on their site as "submitted" content. Then when someone else grabs it and uploads to youtube, but it has the original thiefs URL on it. This can't be the first time someone who works for the sites has spread the videos. Even porn sites spread their own videos for free advertising.
