Something weird happened today: when the PC was booting up I noticed that the CPU was running on stock speed (it was oc'd yesterday). I double checked it in windows and then I went to BIOS and re-enabled something like "host clock control" which applied my custom FSB frequency (400MHz) which was still there.
CPU e6750 @ 3.2GHz
Mobo: Gigabyte P35-DS3R

No, I wasn't playing around in BIOS earlier nor did I recently physically touch the hardware.

Does this kind of stuff happen?
 
My EP45-DS3R Reset a whole bunch of settings when I unplugged the 24 pin and 8 pin power from the mainboard once. Lost my raid array and had to reformat :/

The fact that you have a Gigabyte board tells me something. Some GA boards just reset without an obvious reason!
 
Weird timing that you posted this, I have the exact same setup as you do.

e6750 on a P35C-DS3R board and sometimes it will reboot while booting and then be back at stock speeds. I'm running 4gigs of PC6400 and have everything adjusted as it should be in the BIOS. CPU sits between 22C - 39C (full load).

I'm at a loss to what's causing it. I'm running the F10 BIOS (newest non-beta).

If you come up with anything, please post again.
 
I think I'm running version F6and this is the first time it has happened since I bought the CPU back in 2007. All the settings stayed the same only CPU went to stock speed which rules out the possibility of a random CMOS reset.

usually if it resets the bios after booting up its due an unstable overclock.. its part of the watch dog protection.. even though the setup might be rock stable in windows.. the bios thinks its unstable on a cold boot.. so it resets it so the system boots up..
