MySpace Launches Developer Platform

[HardOCP News]

MySpace, in a bid to widen the gap against rival Facebook, the world's largest online social network plans to launch a new program to court outside software developers.

Although few details were furnished ahead of MySpace's official launch of its platform, Kapur said the developer program would be rolled out globally in about 28 territories. "I will be focused on making a platform for developers to monetize and promote their applications," Kapur said in a phone interview.

I dunno, personally I use Facebook and prefer it over MySpace. So I don’t mind if they copy Facebook…as long as Facebook doesn’t start copying MySpace we’ll be alright.

agreed also. I use both but I started with Facebook. I got "pressured" into activating a myspace account and basically I use facebook for all my college friends and myspace for all my pre-college friends.

Facebook's management sucks(selling info, default opt-in, etc etc) but the website is pretty decent. As soon as they let people style their own pages, it will sink into a pit of suckdom, that myspace would be in if it wasn't so insanely popular.
