Hi, I have been wondering on how to overclock this, I am obviously new to the overclocking scene. The 2600 is running on an Asus A7v8x-x motherboard.

I noticed in the bios I have the option of changing from 2084mhz or so to 2500mhz, but I think the 2500 is only supported by DDR400 ram, and I am using Kingston HyperX pc2700 1gb. So my main question is, is there a way to bypass the DDR400 support to overclock this to the 2500mhz or is there a better way to do some overclocking?
 
I am wondering the same. My default settings are 12.5 * 166, but even when I alter it a little, like 12.5 * 170, it likes to randomly reboot.

Same chip. Maybe I am just a noob, probably.
 
go easy on your ram timings
try 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 8

if its grayed out, change set your RAM to expert.
 
Go easy on my ram timings? If your meaning since their so low, well thats their default.
 
I just went into my bios and found the ram timings, before I never looked at em, just assumed since the specs on my ram said 2-2-2-5, that what it was. But when I looked they were around what you said, 2.5-3-3-7 I think...and what exactly is this option to change my ram to Expert? I couldnt find anything like it anywhere.
