Mine came in today.

Quick question. Based on the ATI note inside that its recommended you use a 450w psu with 30A on a +12v Rail. I have a 550W Antec True Power 19A on dual rails. So obviously i'm not above the recommended amperage on +12v rail. What difference is this gonna do?

If you have dual 12v rails then you need to add them together which gives you 38A.
 
oh cool, I thought that meant for each rail it should be 30A. I learned something today. Now another quick question. Will this be sufficient for crossfire? Thanks!

You can't add amperage like that. Total 12v output is probably closer to 30-35
 
You should be fine for crossfire with a 550. My friend has an SLI with 2 7800GTX's (Evga) and he's running a 480W, no problems at all.

How is the card? I was interested in buying one and I'm wondering if I should just wait until the DX10 based cards come out :confused:

So, if both rails are being used, then it's 19 amps, but if one is used, then it is about 30 amps?
 
no, each rail is capable of outputting 19 amps. However, they're both at the same time most likely NOT capable of putting out 19 amps. Maximum amperage for both rails is probably nearer to 30 amps. Differant rails are just splitting 1 rail into two. Think of a water tank with 1 pipe coming from it, with dual rail it's 2. Each pipe is capable of moving 30 gallons, but the tank source can only pump 50. Im trying to make it easier to understand.
 
I haven't tested it out yet. Unfortunately I'm still at work. I can't wait to get home and benchmark.

Ok, i gotcha, I was getting all hung up on the 19 amp vs. 30 amp. I'm about to build my first rig. So 19 amps is average, while ~30 amps is max that can go through one rail, right?
 
Ummmm, I am a bit confused, and I am being forced into a dumb question that I dont want to ask but I am going to anyway, so here goes. I have the same PSU that the OP has, do I need to plug two donggles from the PSU into my 1900XT? if so, how?

lol um no :p 19 amps is the max allowed through each rail. Both rails are only able able to supply around 15-16 amps each simultaneously.

No, yours is plenty sufficient. P=IV, so 30 amps*12v= 360 watts on the 12v rail. The x1900xt is around 115 watts. If each rail can supply 15 amps simultaneously then it's 180 watts each rail.

Dual rail doesn't actually have anything to do with the physical plug-in's for the card. It's inside the PSU. Just plug that bad baby in and have fun.

For shitty power supplies that over rate the psu.
 
Check your ccc and general settings. Also your 2.8GHz Dually Pentium is holding that gpu back alot. My current 3D05 is 11k.

heh, i was just thinking that and i was just hoping nobody would say it. Yeah I need to upgrade. the 930 is looking good even the 950 ain't bad. Or.....I can try to go AMD? Nah...

OC it to around 3.2GHz and you should be fine in every game. My buddy has a 830 and 1900xt setup that I helped him build. In games at 2.8 it was too slow, however at 3.2 all games are smooth as silk
