So I have a viewsonic 19 inch lcd, I love the thing to death. perfect size for me.

One day it just starts blinking. Instantly you see the screen your on, then instantly off.
And so on and so on.

This even happens when the monitor is not plugged to the GPU.

I`m guessing this is from a power failure?

I was hoping you guys can maybe give me some suggestions,

the thing is nearly new, not even a year old .
I grabbed it from my uncle who got it from frys with a whole comp bundle so I dont think he has the warranty.

Any luck in fixing these kind of things guys?

Bump anyone?

Also, i tried that, I actually left it on all night. With out being plugged to the comp, and it still blinks.

Anyway of fixing this?

If you do not have the reciept, then the warrenty starts from the production date. Should be on the monitor somewhere. If it is less than a year from the production date then go to their web site and submit an RMA.

Best of luck with it

Dave

viewsonic monitors are plagued with bad capacitors... if you are an expert with a sodering gun and a screwdriver, you can usually repair it yourself with some help with the folks at badcaps forums.

Also parts can be bought at the viewsonic store, if you figure out which board(s) inside has the bad capacitors. however, stock seems to have been a problem lately, I cant get replacement board for my vx922 :(

I had the exact same behavior with a Samsung 971P. It's the backlight. Just couldn't stay on very long and got progressively worse until it wouldn't stay lit at all. You cannot fix this yourself.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I had the same problem with my VX922 as well; flashing green lights on power up or resume. I'm a poor college student so buying a new monitor was out of the question, but I successfully ended up fixing the monitor myself by replacing the bad caps. Now it works like brand new! :D

Take a look at this link and look for the first post made by the username "drumerman": http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/2...onitor-black-screen-green-power-light-flashes

I know it's TomsHardware but the link really helped me out. Check down a few posts in that link for pictures. If you're looking to swap out all of the capacitors on that power board then can order these from either Digikey or PartsExpress.

5 Electrolytic Capacitors 470uf @ 25V
1 Electrolytic Capacitor 470uf @ 10V
1 Electrolytic Capacitor 1000uf @ 10V

Hope that helps, especially if your Vx922 is out of warranty, and it only set me back a couple of bucks.

Fake edit: If you're going to take this approach then make sure that the power board has no burn marks on it. That's a whole 'nother can of worms that may not be possible to fix.
