So I'm starting my new build this week and figured I'd do a log. This won't be quite as involved as some of the beautiful builds you see in this section, as for one I don't have anywhere near the abilities/tools as some of the you lol. Also most of the build will be done at work during my down time so I will keep the updates coming as they become available.

So lets get started:

Parts List:

NZXT Switch 810 Case (Glossy black but that will be changing soon.
1x 128GB Samsung 840 Series SDD (Windows/Boot)
1x 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD (Apps/Games)
1x HGST 500GB 7200 RPM HDD (Storage)
Vantec 4x 5.25 SSD/HDD Bray
I5 - 3570K

Parts purchased from:
Newegg.com
FrozenCPU.com
Maximummods.com

So I picked up a switch 810 for the awesome price of $20 :) and have almost stripped it down completely. I'm still trying set all the dirt/dust off it, but thats proofing to be a PITA. So if you have tips for getting this thing spotless let me know.

Today I will be dropping off many of the small exterior trim pieces to a friend for some work. Pics will be posted on friday ;) More updates to come, stay tuned.

So a small update, Started painting the bare chasis. We used Rustoleum self etching primer.

The few pics are after the initial 1-2 coats and you can see a few wet spots. We did a few additional coats after about an hour and touched up as needed and then let it dry over night. I will upload pics from that later today. As a side note I'm hoping the vinyl wrap will be done tomorrow.

First Coats:

DEAR GOD WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!?!??!?!?! :b

Looking good! Can't wait to see more!

Starting some wet sanding today, maybe another coat or 2 of the primer, then some flat black. Took me forever to find some matte clear coat in a spray can, but found some from valspar at lowes. *crosses fingers*

I used some Valspar spray paint on some speakers I was building - the nozzle was absolute garbage. Sputtering paint and bubbles everywhere, it was a mess. Could have been a bad nozzle, but I'll never wager on Valspar again.

So the the paint we bought for the base coat was crap, will have to wetsand a few spots, we tried 2 different cans and when we sprayed the paint it was blotching together. I was hoping to have at least the base done and drying today but it seems i'll have to wait a lil longer.

I got the base back last night and upon further inspection this morning I'm just not not happy with it. I may take it to a body shop that is willing to paint it for me, or sandblast the case and have it powdercoated. Depending on cost I may just wait and see what NZXT has in store for computex at the beginning of June and get a new case and start fresh.

I'm picking up the pieces I had vinyl wrapped later today and hopefully those turned out a lot better. Will post pics

I also sold my mobo/cpu/RAM and will be going with a haswell based setup instead.

Did you have issues fitting the panels back on with the added thickness from the vinyl? I'm looking to do some work with vinyl on a project and I was worried about this. Looks great btw!

The side panels did need a little coaxing to get back on. I also blame this one the paint as it was laid on pretty thick. The rest of the pieces has gone together quite nicely

So you only paid $20 for that case? Makes me feel like a complete idiot for spending $500 for my project. Very nice job on the vinyl wrap. That case looks like it has a lot of water cooling potential. Keep up the good work.

Wow I wish I could find a nice Switch 810 for only $20, that's the case I was planing on using for my next build.
