My Silly Ryzen Wallpaper

Was bored and while making a Ryzen pun in the Tide o' Ryzen thread, I kind of inspired myself to make a silly Ryzen image to go with it.... which ended up turning into a full on desktop wallpaper instead, due to the image being 1980x1153 :shy: It's some painting of Moses parting the Red Sea, but beyond that I know nothing about it. It was mostly black and gray with really the only color being the red sun. So I changed all of the sky to being red, and then colored the water blue, signifying AMD and Intel, respectively.

I spent way more time on it than I really should've, as I took the Ryzen text, separated it from the circle logo, then filled in the hole in the circle the text left. All so that I could just apply the Bevel and Shadow effects w/o looking stupid. However, since I couldn't get the gradient 100% matching, and the only other 'Zen' Circle that was available was the old one (which is slightly different on the tail-end), I just kinda fudged in place what I needed. Might not really be noticeable but, it's a point that annoyed me so I figured I'd be up front :p

I still have the PSD so I can easily make adjustments if suggestions are made. Short of just doing the usual upscale, there isn't a res larger than this given that was the size of the painting picture. Saved as JPG, level 10, no artifacting present (but I'll also put it up as a .zip in case the forums happens to compress it more)

I figured since it didn't look too bad, I'd share it, and provide an outlet for others to share anything they'd made, be it silly or otherwise.

Wow you are very talented to just whip up an image like that. I really like it!!!
 
While I appreciate the nice comment, I feel it is so very misplaced lol I have been using Photoshop since highschool where I took an elective class that taught us basic editing stuff. I know quite little about the ins and outs of the program still to this day, but it's enough to get me by to make things, and make things look nice (enough). But, again, I only edited stuff together, I didn't exactly 'create' any of it :p

Primarily, I just took this:

and made the above. lol

It was an hour or more of work I put in, but could've easily been done in a few minutes, had I not wanted to make the Ryzen Logo look minutely different. Nevertheless, really all that I did was use the Wand tool set to a low a low "Tolerance" with AntiAliasing and Contriguous ticked, started clicking on the ocean water to get it all selected. Then I used the Lasso selection tool to deselect all the non water parts that were 'collateral selection' due to being the same color (Contiguous selects anything the same color within the tolerance value, regardless of whether it's touching where you selected; just seemed easier than trying to lasso the water). Again, it might've been easier to do it another way, such as just selecting the water via lasso directly, but at the time I didn't want to lol Nevertheless, from there I had the water selected and under Adjustments I used Hue/Saturation, selected Colorize and made it the shade of blue closest to the Intel color. After that I Inversed the selection, removed some of the background that was land, the pyramid on the right, and the sun. That left me with the selection of the sky/clouds. I once more ran Hue/Saturation and colorized it the red I wanted.

That's the bulk of the "artistic" part. The majority of the time I spent was using the Gradient tool, and drawing it across a different white version of the logo, it not matching, undoing, re-drawing the gradient, undoing, rinse-repeat 50 times, saying 'fuck it close enough', cutting out the part I needed, pasting, and using the Blur tool for 3 minutes. Once more deciding "fuck it, good enough" and then I spent a couple mins styling the logo and text (which I had previously separated using the Wand tool). :p

I unno... just, IMO, credit goes to whomever painted that picture, and whomever created the Ryzen logo :) Nevertheless, I still had fun, as that's what I like about Photoshop!


TL;DR... I did stuff and things with those to pictures that didn't equate to much actual [H]ard work :D
 
Uh oh... AMD might be calling you for their new marketing graphics position!
