when i try to play games on my new 9600pro as soon as the game starts the screen goes crazy and my monitor flickers constantly. i tried switching it to my friends computer to see if it was my videocard. when it was on his computer it was fine. but when i put it back in my computer it won't 3dmark benchmark or play a game without making the screen and the monitor go crazy. do you guys know what could be the problem?

FYI my motherboard is an Asus P4C800 deluxe, ram is corsair xms pc2700, cpu is pentium4 1.4 oc to 1.9, OS is XP, on catalyst drivers 3.9.

Very well could be a monitor problem. Try changing the resolution of the game to 640x480 and see what happens.

sounds like the frequency might be too high for the monitor your using.

i tried lowering the refresh rate but it still has that problem. and when i put in my old video card a nvidia vanta 16meg it works fine just reallly slow

how old is the monitor, what brand and what size? Sounds like it doesnt support the resolution that you are trying to play at

it's an nec and it's less than a year old i've tried lowering the resolution in the game to like 512x384 or something like that but the screen still goes crazy, but i've played with 1280x1024 before and it was fine just very slow because i had a geforce3

Have you tried installing the monitor INF or disabling DCC Information?

what is INF and DCC

For the INF, try going to the monitor's manufacturer's website and find the approperiate driver for your monitor. It might fix the sync issues.

DCC Info navigation:

Display Properties > "Settings" tab > Advanced > "Display" tab. Click on the button that says "Monitor", should be opened upto the "Attributes" tab, theres a big blue checked button that says "Use DCC Information". try toggling it, if you set the settings manually be careful with the refreshrate dropdown box. (Its probably already set to the highest refreshrate possible)

The DCC option helped fix a resolution problem on my R7500 and Samsung 955DF monitor so it might work for you.

If that doesn't work, under the same window you can try under the "Advanced" tab and changing the Syncronization options. I'd try a few combinations of settings to see if it fixes anything.
