After recieving my x800xl i bought here on [H], and checking temps, i decided to reseat the cooler/reapply AS5. As I was leaning over to put on AS5, i look at the vpu, and see something odd.

umm, that's interesting, an r430 x800pro... what gives?

Also, im getting 40C idle, 60+ C load. Do the x800's run hot or should i get an aftermarket cooler? I cant get this thing oc'ed very well at all. Is this possibly an x800gto^2 resold as an x800xl? It DID come in a retail x800xl retail box, and looks like any other BBA xl...
 
those temps seem fine for an X800XL. mine runs about 10C cooler with an AC Silencer 5 at load
 
The x800xl's came with several different possible cores. Just like how the x800GTO series cards had either r430's and r480's so did the x800xl have several possible variants. You just happened to get one of the r430 variants.
