haven't run all tests, but this is stable so far on prime for 3 hours and 32 meg pi..highest i've put the voltage..not sure i want to go that high.it's on air, but regardless..i'll probably toast it at 1.45 24/7, you think? i want try to shoot higher on the fsb but i don't think i want higher than 1.4 volts in the end and highest i can get stable:

 
is this with the stock cooler that comes in the boxed version?

and any reason why you're using a 7.5 multiplier instead of the default 8?

good questions..that's on air with my enzotech extreme cooler with the stock fan, but still quiet..running at about 900 rpm versus the lowest setting (500 to 600 rpm)

re: multi- you know, i hadn't had success at 8 x 460 before so i simply went to 7.5, but good point as i had not tried that high a voltage before either. i'll give 8 x 460 or 450 at that voltage and see what happens.

hmmm..froze after about 45 minutes of running prime..backing down to 8 x 450, but i'm also pulling the volts back to 1.4 if i can..it was fun to try, but i don't want to fry my processor..if i start hearing 1.45 is "quite safe"..then i'll consider it:)
 
Good stuff. Can't wait to see 500*8.

I will be happy with 3.5ish area that runs rock stable.
 
yeah, i kept playing before..and tried some again today at 7.5 x 500 and 8 x 500..just will not boot..and no, i'm not going to try 1.5 real volts on the cpu:) i've gone back to my 24/7 3400 for now..may do some playing to see if i can get 3500 stable with some fine tuning..i just don't want to overvolt where necessary so i'm kinda waiting for more people with the processor and same board to get to working it and see what they come up with:)
 
These results kind of make me glad I didn't hold out for a Q9450. I'm easily coasting along at 3GHz at a mere 1.3 volts and I can do 3.2GHz at 1.375 volts. My friends Q6600 does 3.6GHz at 1.475volts. I'm sure the 45nm can do it while running cooler and I know they are slightly faster clock for clock, but I was expecting more out of them. Hopefully as the process matures, we'll start seeing better results.
 
all things being equal, should be able to do 3.5 to 3.6 stable at i'd say between 1.32 and 1.37 volts depending on the processor so yeah..marginal difference in that sense between the q6xxx series...and at a higher price. i'd say if you can't get 4 gig out of a quad for anyone who hasn't bought one yet, it's not worth a switch from the 6600. and would again say that if you can get a 6700 after the price cuts at 260ish, go for it:)
 
yeah, i backed it down to 1.32 at this point, 3500 oc..that's good enough for me:)
 
edit..i forgot you had the 9450 xeon equivalent..which board, what are you using for cooling and what are you settings...fsb and all your voltages, for another reference point? thanks:)

If you mean "stock volts" as in auto on the 780i, that's 1.40v
 
Im running at 1.2V i believe, and its on a DFi Lanparty X38 T2R.

I will go home and read off all my voltages in about a half an hour unless i go to my buddys house...
 
1.2 is what you had in a prior screenshot at 3.2 gig i believe:) appreciate you getting the other info at your earliest convenience:)

From what I've read on some other forums, 1.45 is not safe. In fact, I would stay as close to 1.35 as possible.
 
3.2 on my X3350, but it's 100% stable. Can run 3.4 but it won't last long in prime. Can game and bench, but I prefer ultra stability. My 3Dmark @ 3.4 was 19302

This is on 1.3v 7-7-7-20 1T DDR1600 My 3Dmark @ 3.2 is 18306

I never owned DDR2 or a Q6600 (upgraded from s939 DDR400). It cost me exactly $100 more for my X3350 over a Q6600, and I'd do it again considering I was buying from scratch.
EDIT: FEAR PM 1680x1050 everything maxed 4AA/16AF = min FPS:85 AVG FPS:166 max FPS:499

BTW this Antec nine hundred case really keeps the temps low on all my components... impressed.
 
Been running prime at this for 3 hrs so far, getting the itch to shut it down and game a bit.



 
hmmm not bad. its a shame the q9450 had a lower multi than the q6600. i still want a q9450 though :)
 
3.6 at 1.2 volts is about the best i've seen so far in terms of low volts and good overclock. can you give us your specs? mobo, voltages? tanks!

What kind of heatsink fan do you have on your X3350? What are the temps you are seeing at 3.4 or 3.2ghz?

I got a cheap-but-better-than-stock Scythe Katana2. My temps differ per core, using CPUID hardware monitor the cores (0-3) vary from 38c to 47c

PS: I can't figure out how to make Prime run on all 4 cores at once... help?
 
DX38BT - bios is at 1.31 vcore 1.275 vfsb 1.375 mch. 1.66vdimm. Let it run for another 3 hours before I shut it down.
 
so, at 3404, here's my q9450 voltage settings fpr your interest and reference from my abit ip35 pro board..this is hardly "optimized" by the way, in the sense that i probably used some brute force where maybe not necessary on some voltages..i can't be bothered to tweak everything by .01 and check if it will boot and be stable..but i did play within some safety margins i'm comfortable with. ignore my cpu temp showing at the top by the way..that's my faulty sensors..but it looks kind of cool now that i'm used to it..lol:)
