So, I decided to ditch my AVADirect and go with Puget for my next system. Just ordered it this Monday, and it's waiting for the ATI 5870's to come in.

Specs:
Asus P6T Deluxe V2
Intel Core i7 QUAD CORE 920 2.66GHz 8MB 130W Overclocked to at least 3.5GHz
3 x Kingston ValueRAM DDR3-1333 2048MB
2 x ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB
Western Digital Caviar Black 1.0TB
3.5inch 1.44 Floppy Drive (black)
Pioneer 22X DVD-RW SATA (black)
Lite-On 18x DVD-ROM SATA (black)
Antec P193 (Gunmetal Grey)
Corsair HX 1000W Power Supply
Puget Hydro CL1 Liquid Cooling System 1366
 
Somewhat pricey, but I learned my lesson with AVA. Lower price comes at a cost somewhere down the line.
 
Expensive video cards, PSU, CPU.. cheap RAM? Why not some good Corsair Dominator 1600 or something?

Because I have no intention of overclocking it really, and don't believe the Kingston 1600 RAM they offer will provide me with any significant improvement.
 
yeah im sure that Puget setup cost a pretty penny, but you will get your moneys worth, their customer service is excellent.
 
Well, the status update at Puget says it's ready for shipping, so hopefully it will be out by tomorrow and in my hands by Friday.

if i had to knitpick something i would say they could of tie wrapped some of those sata cables.......other then that looks like a nice rig.

So pretty around the motherboard except for that random fan wire that goes over the ram? What the hell is that? Is there no other fan header closer?

And +1 to maybe zip tying those SATA cables... otherwise that is a badass setup!

looks nice but damn 3500 al thsoe parts just off the shelf withotu looking for deals only ran $2300 on a quick newegg search. (including OS) hope your getting 3yr warranty and a happy ending for that price :D

Cooling system fan wire needs to be sleeved.
SATAs should be sleeved or better gathered.
The PSU is modular??? That wad of cables could be neater???

I know, knit-picky at best, overall a very nice and powerful rig.........a little EyeFinity perhaps???

Puget is an excellent company, and will stand behind their work..........but could put a little more effort in tidy for 3500 bucks.

I KNOW you'll be hapier than your debacle with AVA...........I just remembered all that a second ago..........wow!!!!

Which is why I passed on Puget for my system,there's no denying they do quality work,but their prices were to rich for my wallet.The setup I have now only ran me $2100 with shipping.
 
Id love to see your solitaire benchmarks :eek: Can I ask what the Floppy drive is for? Just because you have a connection on your motherboard doesnt mean you have to plug something into it ^^

You'll get my floppy drive when you pry it from my cold dead hands! Seriously, it's a weird thing for me, but it's proven moderately useful in the past so I include one when I can. As for the cooler, it's Puget's Hydro CL1 Liquid Cooling System 1366. I was gonna go with a Cooler Master V8, but the Puget fellows recommended the Hydro for a higher/more stable overclock.
 
It's an Asetek LCLC which is what the Corsair H50 is (although the base is supposed to be improved).

No need for that water cooling for that small NM processor. You could easily overclock that past 3.5ghz on air...Need better ram. Ditch the floppy drive. A gaming computer but you only got a storage harddrive???. With the money you could have saved building it yourself you could have got a nice raptor or solidstate for os/game partition. Ram and harddrive are the potential bottlenecks of this system.
 
I know the rules, which is why I eluded to a price point and building it - instead of newegging(new word?) prices and amounts etc. The post was supposed to be a little condescending to emphasize my "opinion". If he didn't want input then he wouldn't have posted.

while I'll agree that it is expensive, it's also a nice setup.
but as for expensive... what kind of support do you get? people seem to forget that support is also figured in the cost of the computer.

how good is their support team? that would be a make it or break it point for me if I were to buy a boutique computer.

Their support team is great, the last thing i bought from them was a case and it came with the wrong window, they ordered me one from performance-pcs and shipped it to me, then UPS picked up the old one.

Im actually shocked that machine cost 3500 when it costs a bit over 2k to build, but i give the guy props for not ordering from AVA.
 
The Corsair cooler is plugged into the fan header by the RAM because the CPU fan header will throttle the cooler.

I thought my pc wouldnt work without something in the ISA slot?
 
You get what you pay for, and you don't hear much complaining about Puget. I'd rather support the little guy over the big guy any day.
 
Just thought I'd give an update. So far, everything is running great. No problems of any kind, no BSOD's etc. Put in my positive ResellerRatings review (figured I'd wait a bit, just to make sure everything was all good).

lol...whats a floppy drive? haha...I didn't know people still used them
 
Floppy has its uses!

But, here I am not really even using disc media at all anymore. Flash drives/SD cards stay on my keyring :)
