I have a socket 478 prescott running at 3.6ghz but i had to increase voltage to 1.4875v in bios. Now on full load after running Prime95 for ages its gone up to 62 degrees Celcius WAY TOO HOT FOR MY LIKING. I have a thermalright sp-94 with a vantec tornado 92mm fan on it(loud as hell). The temps go up to 62 with the fans on full. Anyone got any ideas on good cooling air or water.(the quieter the better) ?

Thanks

Kishan

The various Thermalright heatsinks do really damn good, but if thats not enough, I say for for a good watercooling set up....and when I say that, I mean anything thats not Kingwin or AquaComputer. Neither one of those can handle the heat of an OCed P4.

Get yourself a good Danger Den set up and call it a day.

dayum thats hot. !! i get annoyed when my proc gets above 40c
i dunno maybe pipe a line from your central air into the box?

Even though 62C is still a safe operating temp, I would get either an XP-120 , 90C , 90 or maybe the new version of the XP-120, the SI-120.

It would cost less than a w/c setup and be a lot safer, however if you decide you want to water cool there are lots of options that vary from cheap to expensive and good to bad.

Remember, high prices =/> good product.

=/> --- does not imply.

Good luck with your decision.

Ive never actually done any watercooling setups. Is it really complicated?? i was thinking of gettin a Waterchill cpu extreme cooler with 3 120mm fans. Is it better to get different danger den parts instead of a prebuilt water cooling setup. And would i be able to do it??
( never built a wc system)

Watercooling is easy once you've done it a few times, it's as easy as installing a CPU heatsink, however, there are many things that you will have to consider.

You will have to research it first and see if you're willing to devote time and effort. Go through the water cooling Q&A, the "post pics of you w/c rigs" is excellent, you can learn a lot from pictures and maybe through a few threads to understand the different factors involved.

If you're a busy person and can't stand PC downtime or don't have a backup computer, an XP-120 or SI-120 should do just fine.

I have decided to go with watercooling   .
But i need your advice on which kit or parts to get. I just want it for my cpu and i just want m temps to be no more then 45 degrees on full load. Any kits you can think of. Please tell me price aswell.

Thanks again
Kishan

I dont mind about pc downtime and can spend all the time i like setting it up. :) So i will be doin it for as long a it takes.

45... no... my prescott ran at 60C load, but that was at 1.6v

i have:
swiftech MCP655
DD TDX
DD MAZE4
cdrom bay res
'77 bonneville heatercore(same one that most places fab for you)
1/2 inch system

for a prescott, 45 is quite unlikely unless you wana run at stock speed, prescotts arnt a64s, a64s CANT take heat, prescotts dont give a damn

So if i do get a good wc setup what would my average temps be on load?? Right now im at 1.4875v to get 3.6 stable. My load temps are at 62 on 1.48v prob my mobo reporting higher then they are. So im probably in reality getting 55. So any guesses on what it would be with a good wc setup. ??

i get 60C with no compensation, i had the voltage up so high i killed my max3's capacitors, be happy with whatever temps you get just dont try to bring it to the limit like i did

As ive never built a watercooled system before is this any good:

"WaterChill KT03A-L30 Antarctica CPU Ultra Extreme Cooling Kit - Triple 120mm Radiator/Fan "

And is it quiet??

Thanks

Kishan

Buy H20-APEX Swiftech kit and call it a day. Best waterblock there is, best pump there is, best diameter tubing, awesome 2 fan radiator. Comes with all the parts you need and it performs friggin awesome.

Yeah, who cares if it is running 62 degrees? It is a Prescott, it is supposed to run hot, that temp isn't dangerous to the chip, and it is stable, so why bother?

OK. I have decided to get the Swiftech H20-APEX but i have seen a review and it seems pretty hard to install for a first timer.
Could you please tell me a good case to install it with that needs the least amount of drilling as my case needs me to dril the fan holes off etc.

Has any got this kit..if so what case do you have??

Thanks

Kishan
