My PC won't boot into XP!

Everything was working fine yesterday. Today, all I did was transfer everything over to my new Lian Li PC-7B case with Corsair TX650w power supply. The machine booted fine into Xp the first time. I noticed it took a bit longer than usual once in windows because it detected 'new hardware' (which was the same hardware that was there before)...my hard drive, my card reader, my mouse and keyboard...I then rebooted, but right after it posts, instead of showing the XP logo and continue the boot up process, it simply shows a black screen with a blinking cursor, and jsut stays there. Rebooting does nothing.

I wonder if when I put everything into the new case, I might have connected the HDD to a different SATA port and that's why it was detected as new hardware, but the fact that it booted in the first time, but not afterwards has me puzzled, and nothing I can do makes it boot up.

Where did I go wrong?

My system:

Lian Li PC-7B
Intel DX38BT Mobo
Q6600 Quad
Radeon 4850
Pioneer DVD drive
WD 640GB
 
Go into the BIOS and see if all your hardware is detected: HDD, CDROMs. What is the boot sequence? Do you have CDROM or HDD as the first bootable device? Did you check if everything was properly connected and seated in place? Also, make sure you dont have any USB drives like a thumbrive connected. Depending on your boot sequence, it maybe trying to boot of a thumbdrive.
 
USB devices will get you a new hardware detected if you plug them into a different port. I have a USB floppy and USB DVD burner, if I don't plug them into the same port each time I use them I get a new hardware found balloon.:rolleyes: Even my thumb drives do this. I don't have any experience with SATA but maybe it does this too. I would unplug anything you don't need for windows to boot and try it again. I have one older PC that won't boot with a USB thumb drive plugged in. If you get windows to load then check device manager for problem hardware. Then start plugging things back in and hope plug and pray works.;)
