I've been a mac user for 3 years and I've decided to build a pc to my spec's. I love apple computers but I need something with more power without draining my wallet. Below is the current build list. My budget is around 1100 without monitor.

I plan on using the pc for Designing, Watching Movies and Playing FSX only. But I do want something I can expand as needed.

Btw if someone can give me a suggestion on a 22inch monitor that is good for pretty much everything but has a good price tag.
 
I'd get the Radeon 4850 personally. Less power consumption and runs faster in most games. Also cheaper without any rebates. Get a Visiontek.
 
I understand a case is really a matter of preference. but your going to spend anout 1/4th your budget on a case.

Get another case and get a better video card

Agreed. Something cheap and basic does the job just as well(for the most part anyway, ventilation may be a little worse)
 
First, switch the motherboard. The main appeal of the X38 chipset is dual x16 CrossFire, which you don't need for a 22 inch monitor. Here's a list of recommended motherboards:

Just to help you out: All of these motherboards have PCI-E 2.0 which may be useful for future GPU upgrades. If you don't need RAID, more than 6 SATA ports and only need semi-decent overclocking, check out the DS3L. If you need 8 SATA ports, RAID, 4 PCI slots, and legacy ports, then get the Neo3-Fr. If you don't need more than 6 SATA ports but want RAID, firewire, a second PCI-E x16 port, a second gigabit port, support for 16GB of RAM, optional eSATA, x8/x8 Crossfire, and high overclocks, then get the DS3R. If you like the DS3R but need 8 SATA ports, want an onboard pre-installed fast booting Linux setup, only need support for 8GB of RAM and don't need a second gigabit port, get the Asus P5Q Pro. Do note that the Asus website can be slow sometimes.

Likewise, if you're looking at future expansion opportunities, right now it would be better for you to get an AMD/ATI video card. The HD4850 currently performs better than the 9800GTX+ and, with one of the P45 motherboards recommended above, could be used in a dual-card CrossFire setup (should you decide to get a 24 inch or larger monitor in the future). If you want better frame rates in FSX, you may want to get the HD4870 instead.

Get the 640GB Western Digital hard drive instead of the 500GB drive. It uses two 320GB platters that makes it perform much faster.

The Xigmatek HDT-S1283 performs just as well as (if not better than) the Tuniq Tower 120 yet costs less. Pair it with the retention bracket that makes mounting it easier.

What's the main priority for this rig? Most (if not all) 22 inch monitors use TN panels, which have low response rates (that makes them great for gaming) but horrible color reproduction, poor viewing angles, and backlighting issues (which make them poor for design work and a wash for movies).
 
No I don't reason I was buying from newegg is that I have a card from newegg. I like the 1200 but I didn't like how the harddrives are the same way as the optical drives I like to have easy access to my drives.
 
There are also Cooler Master full tower cases that are cheaper than the one you chose:

$160 - Cooler Master Stacker 810 (~$25 S/H)
$190 - Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 (free shipping)

A nice mid-tower case could also give you plenty of room for everything for much less.
 
Guy I just realized I put the wrong case in the list the one i was going for was the 189.99 case.

I will be designing mostly for school but I like to have a 22inch if possible.
 
Check the Displays forum for a monitor recommendation. But don't be surprised if no one recommends any 22 inch monitors there (for the reason I've listed earlier).
