I was wondering just how much faster some of the new cards are compared to my old VTech geforce ti 4600. I dont have 400 bucks to spend on a 9800ati or somesuch, but is there something out there less expensive but still substantially faster to justify purchasing it?

a 9800 pro would own it silly. Even a 9700 np would be worth the upgrade I bet.

the one your seeing at best buy for $400 is the 9800pro with a tv tuner built into it.

I just just recently purchasd a Saphire R9600XT for $159.99 locally and installed it into my new PC I just built. I also have a Visiontek Ti4600 card had it since March of 2002 and I can say that the Radeon 9600XT is a very nice upgrade over my Ti4600 in terms of speed, graphics, and image quality over all. If your not into shelling out any where between $240.00 to $320.00 for the high end video cards from either Nvidia and ATI then I would highly recommend a R9600XT card as it is a fantastic deal for the performance you'll get over your old Ti4600 card. :)

I am still thrilled with my R9800 Pro...I did pay $249 but that was just because I didn't want to wait for NewEgg to ship it to me :D ... Newegg is the way to go and I would recomend the 9800 over the 9600 any day of the week

The 9800 kicked my 4600ti in the balls so hard it's feet left the ground. When it landed it got hit in the face with a ball pin hammer and I haven't seen it around since.
