Is working good so far after an initial install glitch.
My new SB build included an 80gb OCZ Vertex 2 ssd for the os and apps only with a 2tb WD green for storage. Cpu is a 2500k, motherboard is a Gigabyte P67A-UD3P-B3 with 8gb of G-skills ripjaws all installed in a hafx. I did some reading of the OCZ forums to make sure I did the install correctly, since this is only my 4th build and I'm still kind of noobish.
Note that this is a fresh install of Win7 pro on a new build.
On first boot with no drives connected, I set ahci mode in the bios, saved, shut down, connected the ssd and restarted. Inserted the win7 cd but it could not find a drive to install on. So I repeated setting ahci in the bios. Several times in fact, but still no ssd detection. From a thread on the OCZ forums, I decided to set ide mode in the bios and then attempt a registry hack immediately after the os was installed. This worked perfectly. I proceeded to install mobo drivers, vid card drivers, etc. Not sure why this happened, but it turned out well.
On the advice of OCZ, I decided not to benchmark the ssd. I do get a 7.3 overall on the windows experience index with the ssd getting a 7.8. Boot up is about 25 seconds and shut down is less than 10 seconds. So, 2 weeks in and no issues yet. Overall I'm happy with the ssd and it's (non benchmarked) performance.
