in the coming days I'll be building a router table to put it in, and a dust collection attachment
and then it will be the perfect tool for some of the plexiglass components Im planning on for my various computers
I'll post PICs of the table and various components as I get em done ;)
 
heh my dad has the same one :) works great lots of power, kinda heavy but can be good in some situations...btw ice i forgot to ask you ...this is off topic but maybe you can still answer it. what are your thoughts on the ocz powerstream 520? like the pros and cons and do you recommend it, thanks :)

I have an M12V. Nice machine. I suspect they are going to finally replace it, they've started restyling all of their power tools. Amazing that you can still get the same model after 15 years.

Ive been after a Fein Router for a long time, but the that Hitachi was the best I could manage with the Home depot Gift Certificates I got for my Birthday\Christmas (one and the same day)

Ive burned up so many routers it aint funny any more, so I was determined to get a better than 3HP model, and the Fein is still a bit out of reach

The Powerstreams are good strong ATX12V v1.3 supplies that exceed spec
and are Topower P6 series supplies with a few options and possibly even more tricks though I havent confirmed that (there is a difference in the specs listed between the OCZ and the P6 series, but they are definately based on that model)
but Id opt for one of the new 600 watt ATX12V v2.0 Powerstreams as a better futureproof choice. ;)
 
thanks ice for your feedback im not getting sli just nf4 and pci-e and 140 is kinda my budget, i like how you can adjust the rails from outside and the lights that indicate when rails too low or too high. thanks again your the coolest :D

of course you need a digital multimeter and you have to pop the top and void the warranty

why you want to have your rails as close to the baseline value as possible is
that your supply has a transient response of 5%, if the baseline is too high,
under some circumstances it might overshoot the allowed value in the spec,
even though its functioning within its own parameters,
if you have a supply with a tighter than spec transient response (load regulation) say 3% or 1%,
your able to bump the baseline voltage without fearing the overshoots ;)

Basic 5% range is
+12V....11.4V to 12.6V
+5V......4.75V to 5.25V
+3.3V...3.135V to 3.465V

1. VOLTAGE REGULATION was very good, but subject to careful setting of the voltage trim pots on the back panel. The adjustment range is as follows:

+12V: 10.7 ~ 13.3V
*
+5V: 4.5 ~ 5.6V

+3.3V: 2.8 ~ 3.8V

For the 12V and 5V lines the adjustment range is up or down 10%, while for the 3.3V line, it is even bigger, ~15% up or down. The range of adjustment provided is quite large, probably too large for safety, in my opinion. Especially when voltage is set too high, the life of components can be seriously shortened. Also, trim pots change value with temperature and age.

But the LED indicators help to avoid problems. The voltage adjustment is made with a small screwdriver. A plastic sticker over the trim post must be removed first. When the voltage falls within the +,-5% range, the LED directly below the trim pot glows green. Above that, it glows red; below that, it glows yellow.

Tested against a fairly accurate multimeter, the LEDs generally glowed green within +,-5% of the target voltage. This seems too loose a tolerance. When the 12V LED is green it could be 11.4V or 12.6V. A 2% range for green would have been more useful, especially for the performance oriented user interested in such adjustments. I'd recommend using a multimeter at the terminals of an unused output connector to tweak the voltages instead. This should be done while the computer is running. Naturally, care must be taken to avoid shorts.

When set for perfect accuracy at 90W output, the voltages sagged slightly as output increased, but it was well within the 5% range.

the powerstreams (Topower P6 series) exceed spec on the load regulation to at least 3%, possibly better, but there is some confusion about that, Id take the 1% claim in the OCZ spec with a grain of salt ;)

ok thats good i will keep my multimeter handy when measureing thanks for that info, definately too much adjustment for oc'ing. yep so im pretty much going with it, otherwise. i found it for 135 on a website, any others that i can find it cheaper? thanks again.
